JAB
[JAK binding protein] This protein of 212 amino acids contains an SH2 domain (Endo et al, 1997). JAB is structurally related to a protein family known as CIS (Cytokine inducible SH2-containing protein), SOCS (suppressor of cytokine signaling), and SSI1 (STAT induced STAT inhibitor-1). JAB is, in fact, identical with SOCS1 and SSI1.
JAB has been shown to interact with Janus kinases. Binding of JAB to JAK1, JAK2, or JAK3 reduces the tyrosine kinase activity of these kinases and suppresses the activation of STAT proteins
