[Suppressor of cytokine signaling-1] This protein (Starr et al, 1997) is a member of the SOCS protein family. It functions as a regulator of cytokine signaling (see, for example, Losman et al, 1999) and has been described independently as

JAB [JAK binding protein]
SSI1 [STAT induced STAT inhibitor-1]
TIP3 [TEC-interacting protein 3]
The human SOCS1 gene has been cloned by (Starr et al, 1997). Kramer et al (1998) have determined that the SOCS1 gene is intronless.
