JAK1
[Janus kinase-1] JAK1 is one of the Janus kinases, which are protein tyrosine kinases. The gene has been identified independently as JTK3. The human gene encoding JAK1, cloned by Wilks et al (1991), maps to chromosome 1p31.3 (Pritchard et al, 1992). A cell line lacking JAK1 has been shown to be completely defective in interferon responses (IFN-alpha, IFN-gamma) (Müller et al, 1993).
Like other members of the Janus kinase family, JAK1 contains a FERM domain and SH2 domains, which are tightly associated to form a single receptor binding module
