BIK
[BCL2 interacting killer] BIK is a protein promoting cell death by apoptosis. The protein is one of the BH3-only proteins and contains only the BCL2 homology domain BH3. BIK is known also as NBK, BP4, Bip-1.
BIK has been shown to form complexes with BCL2, BCLxL, Adenovirus E1B 19 kDa protein, and EBV BHRF-1 and coexpression of these proteins can suppress the death-promoting activity of BIK. BIK disrupts the association of the anti-apoptotic protein BOO with APAF-1.
