BCLb is a member of the BCL2 family of proteins (Ke et al, 2001). It is closely related to Diva and considered identical with BCL2-like-10, Diva, and BOO. The protein contains contains four BCL2 homology domains BH1, BH2, BH3, BH4.
mRNA for this protein is expressed widely in adult human tissues. The protein binds BCL2, BCLxL, and BAX but not BAK. BCLb suppresses cell death by apoptosis induced by BAX but not BAK. The BH3 of BCLb domain
