[Waldner blood group antigens]
abbr. WD, Wda. The low incidence Waldner blood group antigen (Wda) has been identified in members of a Hutterite kindred (Lewis and Kaita, 1981). Bruce et al (1996) have shown it to be due to a substitution Val557 to Met in the human erythrocyte band 3 protein (Bruce et al, 1996).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has been given the designation CD233.
