[IFN-gamma-activated inhibitor of translation complex] GAIT is a heterotetrameric complex formed in human myeloid cells following exposure to IFN-gamma (for an overview see: Mukhopadhyay et al, 2009). The GAIT complex comprises glutamyl-prolyl tRNA synthetase (EPRS), NS1-associated protein 1 (NSAP1), ribosomal protein L13a, and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH). An equivalent complex in murine cells is a heterotrimer that lacks NSAP1 (Arif et al, 2012).
This complex regulates gene expression during inflammation by binding defined 3' untranslated region elements within a family of mRNAs encoding
