[human urinary protein 1] abbr. P1. This secretory protein is produced in the respiratory and urogenital tracts. The protein is known also as Urine protein 1 (abbr. UP1) (Bernard et al, 1992, 1992).
Protein 1 is found in high concentrations in sputum, bronchoalveolar lavages, urine and semen of healthy individuals and in urine of some pregnant women. The protein is identical with Clara Cell 10 kDa protein, which is the human homolog of Uteroglobin.
