[transmembrane metalloproteinase-like, disintegrin-like, cysteine-rich 1] The gene encoding this protein has been isolated from a monkey (Macaca fascicularis) testicular cDNA library (Barker et al, 1994). The encoded putative 82 kDa transmembrane protein is a sperm antigen (Adham et al, 1998) and shows striking sequence similarity to other members of the MDC family including rat and monkey EAPI, guinea-pig PH-30, and human MDC protein (ADAM11), as well as a number of snake venom components. Sequence analysis shows that this protein is the monkey counterpart of ADAM3.
