[quiescence-inducible genes] This term has been coined by Coppock et al (1993) to refer to genes the expression of which is induced in quiescent cells (G0 phase of the cell cycle) and is higher than in logarithmically growing cells. These genes may have a role in both the induction and the maintenance of the quiescent state.
Using the human embryo lung fibroblast (WI38) as a model system, cDNAs encoding collagen-6-alpha-1, collagen-3-alpha-1, decorin, complement C1r, collagen-1-alpha-1, collagen-1-alpha-2, and two genes, designated quiescin Q6 (see: QSOX1) and quiescin Q10
