Mesoangioblasts are multipotent progenitor cells of mesodermal tissues, identified originally in association with the embryonic dorsal aorta in avian and mammalian species. These cells express key markers of angiopoietic progenitors such as KDR, which is one of the receptor for VEGF (VEGFR2), and also CD34 and kit.
