Usurpin
Usurpin has been identified as an endogenous mammalian regulator of cell death by apoptosis initiated by ligation of CD95 (FAS ligand), which involves the recruitment, oligomerization and autocatalytic activation of caspase-8. The protein has been implicated in modulating the susceptibility of cardiac myocytes to cell death by apoptosis following ischemia-reperfusion injury (Rasper et al, 1998).
The protein is identical with CASH, Casper, CFLAR, CLARP, FLAME-1, FLIP, I-FLICE, MRIT.
