[Inhibitor of FLICE] I-FLICE is an inhibitor of cell death by apoptosis induced by TNF receptor 1 and CD95 (Hu et al, 1997). The overall architecture of I-FLICE is very similar to that of FLICE (Caspase-8) and FLICE-2 (Caspase-10), but I-FLICE lacks both a catalytic active site and residues that form the substrate binding pocket and thus is an example of a catalytically inert caspase that can inhibit apoptosis.
I-FLICE is known also as Casper, CASH, CLARP, FLAME-1, FLIP, MRIT, and Usurpin
