The T200 glycoprotein is an integral membrane protein tyrosine phosphatase found as a major high molecular mass cell surface molecule on leukocytes (Charbonneau et al, 1988; Tonks et al, 1988, 1990). The protein is being referred to also as LCA [leukocyte common antigen]. T200 is expressed on all hematopoietic cells except mature red cells and their immediate progenitors. It is not found, however, on other differentiated tissues. The cDNA has been cloned by Ralph et al (1987). Thomas et al (1987) have reported that variants of T200 glycoprotein are generated in the mouse by alternative mRNA splicing.
