[Suppressor of cytokine signaling-7] This protein (Starr et al, 1997) is a member of the SOCS protein family. It functions as a regulator of cytokine signaling by interfering with signal transduction pathways involving mediators such as Janus kinases and STAT proteins and has been described independently as NAP4 [Nck-associated protein-4].
Martens et al (2005) have demonstrated that SOCS7 inhibits prolactin, growth hormone, or leptin signaling mediated through STAT3 and STAT5.
