Langerin

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD207. It is recognised by monoclonal antibody DCGM4 (see).

Structurally, Langerin belongs to a family of C-type lectins. Its extracellular domain consists of a canonical carbohydrate recognition domain and a neck region, promoting the formation of stable receptor trimers (Stambach and Taylor, 2003; Feinberg H et al, 2010). Langerin binds cell surface glycans with a specificity for mannose, fucose, N-acetyl mannosamine, N-acetyl glucosamine epitopes, and sulfated carbohydrates derived from heparin in a Ca(2+)-dependent manner (Stambach and Taylor, 2003; Chabrol et al, 2012; Muñoz-García et al, 2015).
