CD207

[CD207(+), CD207(-)]

Other designations:

Langerin

CLEC4K [C-type lectin domain family 4 member K]

DCGM4 (monoclonal antibodies)

The antigen is expressed specifically on Langerhans cells (Valladeau et al, 1999).

CD207 is a type 2 Ca2+-dependent lectin displaying mannose-binding specificity. Valladeau et al (2000) have reported that CD207 is an endocytic receptor that induces the formation of Birbeck granules, which are organelles consisting of superimposed and zippered membranes and found specifically in Langerhans cells. Birbeck granules are subdomains of the endosomal recycling compartment that form where langerin accumulates (Mc Dermott et al, 2002). Stambach and Taylor (2003) have suggested a role for ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
