LTBP3
[Latent TGF-beta binding protein-3] LTBP3 is one of four extracellular matrix glycoproteins complexing TGF-beta isoforms in a latent form that allows targeting and activation of this growth factor (see also: LTBP1, LTBP2, LTBP4) (Oklu and Hesketh, 2000).
The LTBP3 gene was isolated from a NIH 3T3 cell cDNA library (Yin et al, 1995). The deduced polypeptide contains 15 copies of an EGF-like repeat, 3 TGF binding protein repeats, and 2 proline- and glycine-rich sequences. It shows 38.4 % identity with LTBP1.
