[Lymphocyte and Monocyte Chemoattractant] This human cytokine of 100 amino acids, which belongs to the group of CC-Chemokines was identified by searching the Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) data base. The LMC gene is located at human chromosome 17q. The protein is known also as monotactin-1. LMC is identical with NCC4, LEC, HCC4, and LCC-1. These factors have been renamed CCL16.
The chemokine preferentially chemoattracts lymphocytes and monocytes but not neutrophils
