[leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor 9] The gene encoding this protein has been cloned by Borges et al (2003) who also cloned four splice variants. The longest variant corresponds to the ILT11 cDNA reported by Wende et al (2000). Two splice variants lack the C-terminal transmembrane region, suggesting they are soluble proteins. The approved gene symbol is LILRA5 [leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily A member 5]. The gene has been cloned independently as ILT11 [immunoglobulin-like transcript 11].
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD85f (see: CD85).
