(approved gene symbol) [LINE-1 type transposase domain containing 1] L1TD1 is an RNA-binding protein expressed in stem cells and required for human embryonic stem cell self-renewal and cancer cell proliferation. Depletion of L1TD1 results in immediate downregulation of the stemness factors OCT4 and NANOG. OCT4, SOX2, and NANOG all bind to the promoter of L1TD1. L1TD1 also colocalizes and interacts with the stem cell marker LIN28 via RNA and directly with RNA helicase A, suggesting that it is part of a complex that can influence levels of OCT4
