[Octamer-binding protein 4] Schöler et al (1990) have pointed out that the cDNA sequences for OCT4 (referred to also as OTF4 [Octamer-binding transcription factor 4]) and murine OCT3 [Octamer-binding protein 3] gene (Okamoto et al, 1990), which is being referred to also as OTF3 [Octamer-binding transcription factor 3] (Takeda et al, 1992) are virtually identical except for two differences. For these reasons, the transcription factor is being referred to frequently as OCT3/4 [Octamer-binding protein 3/4] or OCT3/OCT4
