IL13BP
[Interleukin-13 binding protein] This protein of 45-50 kDa has been detected in the serum and urine of mice (Zhang et al, 1997). It appears to be structurally and antigenically distinct from the alpha chain of the IL13 receptor (IL13RA1, CD213a1).
IL13BP binds IL13 with a 100-300-fold higher affinity (Kd = 20 90 pM) than the alpha 1 chain of the IL13 receptor. IL13BP has been shown to function as a potent inhibitor of IL13 binding to its cell surface receptor.
IL13BP is the same as the IL13 alpha 2 receptor (IL13RA2). In the nomenclature of CD antigens
