IL1-beta-converting enzyme-related proteases
abbr. IRP (a term with multiple meanings). A general term for proteases related to IL1-beta Convertase (see also: Caspases).
One particular protease, designated IRP, has been isolated from rat brain. This protease displays strong sequence identity with human CPP32. IRP may be involved in the cell death by apoptosis of cerebellar granule neurons (Ni et al, 1997).
