ICEBERG
The approved gene symbol for ICEBERG is CARD18 [caspase recruitment domain-containing protein-18].
The cDNA for this protein (termed Caspase-1 inhibitor) has been isolated by Humke et al (2000), following a search in EST databanks for sequences with homology to the CARD domain found in caspase-1. A highly related factor is Pseudo-ICE.
ICEBERG (90 amino acids) interacts with IL1-beta Convertase (caspase-1). This inhibits the generation of IL1-beta. Another protein having a similar activity is Cop.
