databank synonym: Crpd. The cDNA has been identified in a subtraction screen for genes expressed in intestinal crypts. Two cDNA variants, termed CRP-alpha [CRP-ductin alpha] and CRP-beta [CRP-ductin beta], from mouse jejunal epithelium differ in their 3'-sequences by an 82 bp domain unique to CRP-beta (Cheng et al, 1996). Madsen et al (2003) have reported expression in many other tissues.
