[Cell death abnormality protein 2] a gene from Caenorhabditis elegans. The CED2 protein is involved in the engulfment of cells undergoing cell death by apoptosis (see also: efferocytosis). CED2 is considered to be the nematode counterpart of human Crk-2, an adaptor protein similar to v-crk sarcoma virus CT10 oncogene.
A complex of CED2, CED5, and CED10 defined in Caenorhabditis elegans is functionally analagous to the complex in mammalian cells consisting of Crk-2, DOCK180 and RAC1
