[dedicator of cytokinesis 180; 180 kDa protein downstream of CRK] This protein of 1866 amino acids contains an N-terminal SH3 domain and interacts with the crk-2 adaptor protein. Expression of the protein has been shown to change spindle 3T3 cells to flat, polygonal cells (Hasegawa et al, 1996). The approved gene symbol is DOCK1 [dedicator of cytokinesis 1]. DOCK 180 is considered the species homolog of Caenorhabditis elegans CED5 (see also: CDM). The protein acts as a nucleotide exchange factor for Rho-family GTPases (Lu et al, 2005).
