[Ana blood group antigens]
The low incidence Ana blood group antigen resides on the two sialoglycoproteins glycophorin C and glycophorin D (Daniels et al, 1993; Johnson and Daniels, 1997), both of which are encoded by the same gene. Note that the Ana blood group antigen may be referred to as Ge7 [Gerbich 7], being a low incidence allele of the Gerbich blood group antigen (for overview see also: Walker and Reid, 2010).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has been given the designation CD236. See also: blood group antigens.
