vaccinia virus ORF 184R |
Vaccinia virus protein phosphatase VH1 |
Natural suppressor cell-derived suppressor factor |

This virus-encoded protein encoded in the genome of myxoma virus probably plays a role in innate immunity. Nerenberg et al (2005) have reported that the protein is a ubiquitin ligase that targets ubiquitin to viral replication factories. The cellular substrates are not known. The gene appears to be disrupted in vaccinia virus (Senkevich et al, 1994). Homologs in other viruses are N1R [Shope fibroma virus N1R protein], Ectromelia virus p28 protein, myxoma virus M143R protein.
