abbr. SRF (a term with multiple meanings). A dimeric phosphorylated transcription factor of 67 kDa (see also: gene expression) that specifically binds to serum response elements (see: SRE) in the promoters of some cytokine genes and other genes the expression of which is inducible by cytokines and growth factors.
