[nuclear protein-475] An early response gene the transcription of which is rapidly and transiently stimulated by cross-linking of membrane immunoglobulin on B-lymphocytes. Its mRNA levels also increase dramatically after stimulation with various mitogens.
Nup475 encodes a transcription factor with a zinc finger structure (see also: gene expression). The gene is identical with G0S-24 (see: GOS), a member of a set of putative G0/G1 switch regulatory genes (see also: Cell cycle) that are expressed transiently within 1-2 hr of the addition of lectin or cycloheximide to human blood mononuclear cells.
