this term - also necroptosome - coined in analogy with inflammasome, pyroptosome, ripoptosome, piddosome, refers to a distinct set of signaling proteins that include RIP1, RIP3, and caspase-8. These biochemical complexes are thought to mediate a distinct form of regulated necrosis referred to as necroptosis (Wallach et al, 2011; Galluzzi et al, 2011; Dickens et al, 2012).
