Krox-20, known also as Egr-2 (see: Egr-1), and Krox-24 are early response gene that are transiently activated during G0/G1 transition of the cell cycle in murine cells.
The genes encode a zinc finger protein that functions as a transcription factor (see also: gene Expression). The genes are regulated through a serum response element (see: SRE) and a cAMP responsive element (see: CRE) and are members of the Egr family of transcription factors (see: Egr-1).
