They are derived from committed lymphoid progenitor cells and myeloid progenitor cells and myeloid effector cells by reprogramming, using transient expression of six transcription factors Run1t1, Hlf, LMO2, Prdm5, Pbx1, and Zfp37. This procedure imparts multilineage transplantation potential onto these otherwise committed progenitor cells.
