[frizzled family receptor 4] this is a mammalian homolog of one of the Drosophila melanogaster frizzled proteins, frizzled-4 encoded by gene CG4626, which are known to interact with Wnt family proteins. frizzled-4 (537 amino acids) is known also as FzD4 or Fz4, and has been isolated from a human fetal lung cDNA library (Kirikoshi et al, 1999). In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD344.
Robitaille et al (2002) have suggested that frizzled-4 may be involved in retinal angiogenesis
