Abbr. Fz (gene: CG17697); also: frizzled-1. The Frizzled gene of Drosophila melanogaster is essential for the development of normal tissue polarity in the adult cuticular structures (Wang et al, 1996; Sagara et al, 1998). The protein belongs to the seven transmembrane class of receptors (7TMR). Its extracellular region contains a cysteine-rich domain with a characteristic spacing of ten cysteines. This sequence motif can be found in a variety of otherwise unrelated proteins.
