YT16
This is the name of a cDNA cloned by Koga et al (1986). The protein shows extensive homology to protein tyrosine kinases src and yes. Sequence analysis shows that the encoded protein is lck [lymphocyte-specific protein-tyrosine kinase].
Mayer KM et al (1992) have reported that the expression of YT16 protein in NIH 3T3 fibroblasts can cause cell transformation, showing that the protein can function as an oncogene.
