[WD repeat and socs box-containing protein-1] Vasiliauskas et al (1999). The protein contains 8 WD repeats and a C-terminal SOCS box. Chicken SWIP1 [SOCS box and WB repeats in protein 1] and human WSB-1 share 88 % amino acid identity. Vasiliauskas et al (1999) have reported that WSB-1 is regulated by sonic hedgehog signaling in somites and limb buds in developing chicken.
Dentice et al (2005) have reported that WSB-1 is part of an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex that modulates thyroid hormone activation and PTHrP secretion in the developing growth plate and thereby regulates chondrocyte differentiation.
