W cells

W cells are a distinct population of retinal ganglion cells (neurons) involved in visual information processing (Troy and Shou, 2002; Hughes, 1979). They are most likely the counterparts of zeta cells described in the cat retina.
W cells differ from related X cells (called also beta-cells) and Y cells (called also alpha-cells
