[TGF-beta-stimulated clone-22] Approved gene symbol: TSC22D1 [TSC22 domain family member 1].
A highly conserved early response gene expressed rapidly and transiently in murine osteoblastic cells after stimulation with TGF-beta for 1-2 hours (Shibanuma et al, 1992). TSC-22 gene expression is induced also by Phorbol esters, serum, cholera toxin, or dexamethasone, but not appreciably by EGF. The human gene encodes a protein of 18 kDa (144 amino acids) that contains a leucine zipper structure and belongs to a conserved family of transcription factors. TSC-22 is a direct target of
