[TGF-beta induced factor-2] In databanks the factor is known also as Tiaf2 [Transforming growth factor beta 1-induced factor 2].
This protein of 15 kDa contains an extracellular RGD motif and a putative transmembrane region. The expression of TIF2 is induced rapidly by TGF-beta. Overexpression of TIF2 in murine L929 fibroblasts significantly protects these cells against the cytotoxic activity of TNF, which normally causes cell death by apoptosis in these cells.
