STCP-1

[stimulated T-cell chemotactic protein] This factor belongs to the group of cytokines known as CC-Chemokines (Chang et al, 1997). The gene (SCYA22) consists of 3 exons and 2 introns and was isolated from an activated macrophage cDNA library. The amino acid sequence of the protein shows 34 % identity with another chemokine, RANTES. STCP-1 is known also as MDC (human macrophage-derived chemokine). The factor has been renamed CCL22.
