Name given to putative hematopoietic growth factors produced by bone marrow stromal cells (Zipori et al, 1998) (see: hematopoiesis) (see also: BMC, bone marrow culture). These factors function as differentiation antagonists. They restrict differentiation or accumulation of mature cells and promote stem cell renewal (Zipori, 1990, 1992).
The murine stromal cell line MBA-2.1 produces an activity, designated Restrictin-P.
