[RIP associated Ich-1/CED homologous protein with death domain] RAIDD is a ubiquitously expressed adaptor molecule participating in signaling cell death by apoptosis. Overexpression of this protein in mammalian cells induces apoptosis (Duan and Dixit, 1997). The human gene maps to chromosome 12. RAIDD is the same as CRADD.
RAIDD possesses a carboxy-terminal death domain that binds to the homologous domain in RIP, a serine/threonine kinase component of the death pathway. The amino-terminal domain contains a CARD domain which mediates the binding of RAIDD to caspase-2
