Ovary Maturating Parsin

abbr. OMP. This neurohormoune is an insect gonadotropin of 65 amino acids identified in the African migratory locust, Locusta migratoria. It is produced by the same neuroendocrine cells that also express diuretic hormone (Tamarelle et al, 2000). The hormone stimulates oocyte maturation and vitellogenesis when daily injected in young adult female L. migratoria (Girardie et al, 1991, 1998) and also accelerates the release of circulating ecdysteroids in the hemolymph (Girardie and Girardie, 1996; Girardie et al, 1998).
