This neuropeptide, PSFHSWSamide, has been identified in the nervous system of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis (Cox et al, 1997). Lymnokinin belongs to the family of neuropeptides known as leucokinins and may be just one of a family of lymnokinin-like peptides.
The neuropeptide acts via a G-protein-coupled receptor that has been termed GRL106. Leucokinin IV and leucokinin VI, which are members of the leucokinins are also able to activate GRL104 (Cox et al, 1997).
