Langhans cells
[Langhans cell]
This term, which must not be confused with Langerhans cells, has been used in several different ways.
(-1-) a histologically identifiable polyhedral epithelial cell type of the chorionic villi of the human placenta. These cells are regenerative cytotrophoblasts that produce the syncytium of syncytiotrophoblasts (Kaufmann et al, 1977; Pirino et al, 2001).
