[leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor 4] The protein is an inhibitory receptor for MHC class 1 molecules. The gene has been cloned by Borges et al (1997). The same gene has been cloned by Arm et al (1997) who called it HM43 [Monocyte inhibitory receptor HM43], and by Colonna et al, who called it ILT6 [immunoglobulin-like transcript 6].
Borges et al (1997) have reported expression in NK-cells and B-cells but not in monocytes, T-cells, or dendritic cells.
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD85e (see: CD85).
