[leucine-rich glioma inactivated 4] LGI4 is a secreted and glycosylated leucine-rich repeat protein (538 amino acid proteins containing 1 partial and 4 complete leucine-rich repeats). The gene encoding this protein has been cloned by Gu et al (2002). Another designation is LGIL3 [LGI1-like protein 3], a designation based on sequence similarity to LGI1 [leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1].
LGI4 appears to be expressed in many tissues with highest expression in brain. Senechal et al (2005) have shown high expression in the rostral migratory stream and the Purkinje cell layer of the cerebellar cortex.
